Daily Factoid: Cisco CCNA Requirements (22-Jan-12)

One thing that’s often over-looked when preparing for Cisco exams is exactly how to simulate the Cisco environment. If you are rehearsing for a MS exam, you can put together some old Computers & have an actual networked system to play with. To re-create a Cisco environment would be really expensive, because you would need to set up a lot more PCs, with Commercial technologies & enterprise class routers and hardware.

The only acceptable answer is to use simulated networks that are approved by ‘Cisco’. Enabling you to practice ‘on-screen’, these software systems provide the option to construct and test virtual networks. You work with specific routers and data switches, & may even ‘interrogate’ information as it moves through the network. Software such as this is what splits training courses apart – it is not a good idea to decide upon any Cisco training that does not include it. We have now incorporated ‘RouterSim’s’ ‘CCNA’ Network Visualiser in each of our CCNA career-tracks – it’s a very highly regarded ‘simulator’ and unquestionably one of the finest we examined.
